Ramana Sonty

Ramana Sonty, MBBS, PhD, is a Director of Strategy, in the Janssen Global Medical Organization and is playing a leadership role on the J&J Pre-Approval Access Task Force which has delivered a new policy, SOP and implemented global tracking processes for expanded access / compassionate use requests. In addition, Ramana is part of multiple external stakeholder engagements to help patients and physicians navigate the complex pre-approval access arena. Furthermore, Ramana is part of the team that launched Janssen’s innovative pilot with NYU, called CompAC (the Compassionate Use Advisory Committee (CompAC) in May, 2015. The CompAC is a first-of-its-kind, innovative pilot to evaluate the value of an independent, external, expert body in providing recommendations on compassionate use requests. With the success of the pilot with NYU, the model has now expanded the CompAC model to all of Janssen’s compounds in development. The pilot has been featured in articles in Nature, JAMA and other publications. Ramana has presented the work of the Task force to diverse national and international audiences. He has trained in Medicine and Neuroscience.
