Global Medical Affairs Director fulfilling the role of Business Area lead for AstraZeneca’s Global External Scientific Research (ESR) program. Her accountabilities include: ensuring compliant management and delivery of ESR, business development, global policy and standard operating procedure development and implementation, training, KPI, performance and line management with direct reports in Sweden, US, UK and Asian markets. Karen is the Co-founder of IISRA (Investigator-Initiated Sponsored Research Association) a professional organization supporting professionals within the pharmaceutical/biotech/and device industries supporting non company sponsored studies. Recently led efforts in the development of a strategic partnership with the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP) in an effort to broaden the IISRA community membership base and provide ACRP members broader knowledge in non company sponsored research through establishing an IISR Special Interest Group (SIG) . Considered a knowledge expert in external research, collaborations, process, and has presented at numerous external conferences on topics of general process and global delivery of non company sponsored programs. Holds an MBA St Joseph University,(Philadelphia), Post Masters Certificate in Project Management, is a Project Management Professional (PMP), and certified in Oncology Nursing.
